Summertime is here and that means the start of the 5K season in metro Atlanta! From mid-week sprints to weekend morning jogs, the upcoming races in these cities are sure to get you excited about the causes, organizations, and people that the races support.

June 2023 

Saturday, June 10th – Braves Country 5K & Dash 

Run to support the home team, Atlanta Braves Baseball! Participants will receive a t-shirt, a ticket to a Braves game (seat selection available), and will get to finish the race by running onto the field! This is a unique race you don’t want to miss. 

Saturday, June 10th – Delta Scholarship Fund 5K Run/Walk and Fun Run

The Delta Scholarship fund provides educational scholarships to worldwide employees of Delta Air Lines and their eligible dependents. Participants will receive a t-shirt and a finisher’s medal (for the first 800 signups). Come out and support a worthy cause! 

Sunday, June 11th – HOTLANTA Half Marathon | Relay | 5K

Located right in the heart of Centennial Olympic Park, this 5K race supports Camp Dream, a program that serves children and young adults with moderate to severe disabilities through Summer Camp and Camp Out programs. Participants will receive a t-shirt and a finisher’s medal. 

Monday, June 12th – The Monday Nighter at The Garage

Are you looking for an early week pick-me-up? Come out with your running shoes on to this 5K sponsored by Monday Night Brewing on Monday night! Eligible participants will receive post-race refreshments. 

Sunday, June 18th – 11th Annual Juneteenth Atlanta 5K Freedom Run

Juneteenth is a time for commemoration and celebration. People honor this day by gathering in the community and spending time together. This 11th annual race is one you and your family will enjoy for years to come. 

Saturday, June 25th – Race to Cure All Colors 5K 

At this 5K, runners, walkers, and volunteers unite to honor cancer survivors and raise money to support cancer patients. Strollers and leashed pets are allowed on the course so the whole family can enjoy the day! Participants will receive a race t-shirt.

July 2023 

Tuesday, July 4th – Atlanta Journal Constitution’s Peachtree Road Race 10K 

Hailed as the world’s largest 10K, the 54th annual Peachtree Road Race is the perfect place to go to celebrate Independence Day! This event is family-friendly and a great way to spend the day with loved ones while celebrating good health and the USA. The first 8 people who finish the race with the Atlanta Track Club Elite Athletes will win BIG in prize money from $10,000 (1st place) to $750 (8th place). You absolutely do not want to miss this runner’s event of the summer! All participants will need to register for a qualifying time from a USATF-certified course to be eligible to run. 

Saturday, July 8th – 5K STROLLER ROLL

This race is for all runners, walkers, and those pushing a baby jogger, a baby stroller, a wagon, a tricycle, power wheels, etc. Expecting mothers, supporting dads, babies, young children, and the whole family are invited to participate in the race. The race benefits It Starts With Me 2, a nonprofit organization that encourages family-focused healthy living. Participants will receive a t-shirt and race medal (first 100 people).

Saturday, July 22nd – Christmas 5K/10K/Half Marathon in July

In July, we’re 6 months away from Christmas vacation! For those who can’t get enough holiday cheer, come out in your Christmas gear for a fun race on the ATL Beltline! T-shirts and race medals will be awarded to participants! 

Saturday, July 29th – We ❤️ Teachers 5K & 1 Mile Fun Walk

Celebrate back to school with a 5K race! A portion of your registration fee goes to a K-12 school or school organization of your choosing. This race helps teachers all across the state of Georgia! Participants will receive a t-shirt and a finisher’s medal.

Saturday, July 29th – Sloth Runner’s Club 5K/10K/13.1

You know how the saying goes, “Slow and steady wins the race.” The same can be true for you at this year’s race which benefits sloth conservation. If you’re an animal lover and a leisurely runner, feel free to come out to this race for a good cause. Participants will receive a race shirt and a finisher’s medal or custom mug. 

Saturday, July 29th – Run From the Sun 5k

This is a run and walk event that raises awareness for melanoma (skin cancer). All funds from the race will be donated to the Melanoma Research Foundation to help find a cure. The race begins at the Douglas County High School track and participants are encouraged to wear black or orange for skin cancer awareness. 

August 2023 

August 5th – First Responder 5k Run/Walk

The slogan says it all, “Run to Help Those, Who Run to Help You!” This 2nd Annual First Responder 5k is open to all fitness levels and starts at The Battery in Cobb County. This family-friendly event will include first responder vehicles and displays, field games with The Atlanta Braves Blooper, and a performance from the Braves Heavy Hitters! Participants will receive a T-shirt. 

August 6th – Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated ~ Rho Pi Lambda Chapter~ Scholarship 5K Run/Walk

Join in the fun at this great race for a cause! Proceeds will provide scholarships for college-bound African-American male students within Carroll, Douglas, and Paulding counties. Awards will be given to male and female first, second, and third-place winners in various age categories. 

August 12th – 2023 Vinings Down Hill 5K

Are you ready for an exciting day of running at the Vinings Downhill 5K? Join over 2,000 runners and take on the challenging course with three hills and three exhilarating downhills. The race ends at the Lovett School with a 280-foot net drop! There will also be a 1K fun run and a Doggy Dash (with a dog costume contest). After the race, head over to Vinings Jubilee for a post-race party. This event benefits children’s charities. 

August 12th – 2023 Chick-Fil-A Moo’ve it 5K

This popular race has proudly donated over $200,000 to Cherokee County Educational Foundation and Cherokee County Special Olympics since 2014. Come out and run to support these awesome organizations for students! 

August 19th – Popsicle 5K

Sometimes all we need is a good run and a delicious sweet treat. You’ll find all of that and more at the Popsicle 5K happening on the Atlanta Beltline – West End Trail. This is a great event to kick off the weekend! Participants will receive a cold popsicle at the finish line. 

August 26th – Run Atlanta “The Big Peach” 5K/10K/13.1 Race

This fun race event is a great way to end the summer season. Bring your running buddies out for The Big Peach race this year in Atlanta. Participants will receive a custom t-shirt with their name and running time as memorabilia from their run. The swag bag will also include a finisher’s metal or canvas. 

August 28th – Downtown Cartersville 5K (and a 1K Fun Run) 

This is definitely a race you don’t want to miss. Bring the whole family for a day of healthy fun at this annual 5K race and children’s fun run. All proceeds benefit Backpack Buddies, a program that provides children from food-insecure homes that attend school at Cartersville City or Bartow County schools with weekend meals during the school year. Participants will receive a custom t-shirt.
