Parks, Restaurants, and Shops are Open for Business

Barber shops, local boutiques, restaurants, and Kennesaw’s fantastic parks are open for all to enjoy! The Parks and Recreation Department is doing their part to keep parks and facilities safe – while still making all of the area’s amenities accessible. Swift-Cantrell Park, right across from our Cantrell Crossing townhome community, is fully open – with walking trails, playground equipment, a skate park, and a dog park available for use. Of course, the Parks and Rec Department encourages visitors to observe social distancing guidelines and other safety precautions per Governor Kemp’s executive order, with plenty of guides displayed prominently in the city’s parks.

Local businesses are warming up, too, with new arrivals and standby favorites seeing plenty of activity. Horned Owl, a new brewery downtown, offers a taproom and live music – it’s the perfect place to chat with friends over a delicious local brew. Of course, just down the street is BurgerFi – a fantastic chain offering one-of-a-kind burgers, sides, and desserts to sate your appetite. Outdoor seating is available here – and downtown Kennesaw’s walkable layout means you can take your food to-go and change up the scenery any time you want.

Events and Reopenings for 2021

Whether for KSU students or everyday residents, 2021 holds the promise of in-person excitement, enrichment, and learning. Firstly, Kennesaw State has announced that they intend to return to normal operations in fall of this year. That includes on-campus classes, residential life, athletics, and all of the face-to-face engagement that students expect from their college experience. And for some local entertainment, the Kennesaw Downtown Development Authority has announced the inaugural First Friday Concert Series to take place downtown! Running from April through October, the first concert in the series is taking place on Friday, April 2, 2021 – featuring an acoustic performance by Fire & The Knife. Spaces are limited – get more details and register on The City of Kennesaw’s website here.
