Douglasville’s annual Fourth of July festivities are set for Monday, July 4, with two separate events. In the morning the city will host a parade downtown, then around 9 p.m. the annual fireworks show is set to begin. The the best place to view the fireworks will be from the Arbor Place Mall parking lot off Douglas Boulevard.

Fireworks

In Villa Rica, a giant fireworks show will cap an evening of musical entertainment Sunday, as Villa Rica hosts a free event to celebrate Independence Day. The 11th annual Fireworks Display Extravaganza is scheduled begin 5 p.m. on July 3 with the national anthem sung by Ricketa Walker at the Villa Rica Civic Center and Sports Complex (V-Plex), located at 1605 Highway 61.

Then the Your Girlfriend Band will take the stage as the first of two musical acts for the evening. Headlining the musical part of the evening will be The Ghost Town Band, made up of six musicians from west Georgia.

While all that is going on, there will be a variety of family-friendly activities available at the park. Admission is free, and city officials expect more than 15,000 people to attend the event, so those who wish to attend are advised to arrive early and to bring their lawn chairs and blankets. Parking at the site is limited, but there are several large parking areas available near the site. The colossal fireworks display will begin at 9:30 p.m., and will be presented by East Coast Pyrotechnics, which each year produces hundreds of July 4 shows.
