At Kerley Family Homes, we love to work with programs that enable us to give back. To help bring the joy of Christmas to more children across Atlanta this holiday season, we’ve partnered with Bay Equity to participate in the Toys for Tots program. Now in its 70th year of operation, we are proud to support this program which has made it possible for millions of underprivileged children within the United States, including here in Atlanta, to receive presents for Christmas.

Toys for Tots History

The Toys for Tots program was founded in 1947 by Major Bill Hendricks in Los Angeles, California. A year later, in 1948, the United States Marine Corps officially adopted Toys for Tots as a nation-wide campaign. From that point forward, it officially became known as the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. The famous Toys for Tots logo was designed that same year by Walt Disney and is still used today. In September 1991, the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation was established as an official organization supporting Toys for Tots. To date, the program annually collects more than 18 million toys and distributes them to more than 7 million underprivileged children in the United States.

Donate Today

Now through Monday, December 11 you can drop off new, unwrapped toys at any of our Kerley Family Homes communities. This year the North Atlanta Toys for Tots is especially in need of toys for children ages 10 – 12. At the end of the collection period, the toys received will be sent to a central location where they will be sorted accordingly. At Christmas time, area coordinators, with the help of other local agencies, church groups, and community organizations, will distribute the toys to underprivileged children across North Atlanta. The counties served include Banks, Barrow, Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Dawson, DeKalb, Douglas, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Jackson, Lumpkin, Newton, Paulding, Rockdale, and Walton.
